If you prefer going with the latest Nordictrack entry-level treadmill models, then you can explore the newer Nordictrack EXP Series models highlighted below.
Model Differences: T 6.5 S vs. T 7.5 S
T SERIES TREADMILL OVERVIEW
The NordicTrack T 6.5 S and T 6.5 Si Treadmill powered by iFit are two of the best entry-level treadmill options under $1,000, a great start for any home gym. Part of NordicTrack’s T Series, these durable treadmills can support most running goals at an affordable price — and are recommended for walkers, joggers, and runners. The T Series design is sturdy and durable and provides flex cushioning options on the running deck to reduce the impact on your knees, hips, and ankle joints.
If the T Series 6.5Si is not available, the T7.5S Model is a great substitution option at $200 more, providing a longer running deck, faster top speed and slightly higher incline ability.
On the T6.5 models work out at home on a dependable treadmill at speeds up to 10 mph, or as you are moving, add intensity to burn more calories with inclines up to 10%. You can use the built-in Dual-sided EKG Pulse Grips to monitor your heart rate while you move.
Overall, the running decks seemed roomy enough to accommodate most people’s stride and overall have a spacious feel to them, enabling your arms to move freely while in motion. These models are folding treadmills with a space-saving design, using an easy-lift assist to help anyone quickly fold up the running deck.
MAIN DIFFERENCES
A Key difference between these treadmill models is the display. The T 6.5 S ships with a 5-inch backlit LCD screen for statistics and selecting pre-programmed running/walking workouts, while the T 6.5 Si has a 10-inch HD touchscreen that can tilt up and down and allows you to select and watch iFit sessions as you run or walk, as well as interactively adjust the treadmill’s speed and incline elevation to match the workout and iFIT trainer cues. (This iFit feature is often referred to as AutoAdjust or Live Trainer Control)
The T7.5S Model has a 7-inch HD touchscreen but has a faster top speed of 12 MPH with a stronger motor of 3.0 CHP vs. 2.6 CHP and inclines higher by two degrees to 12%. The T 7.5S treadmill also has a longer running deck size of 60 x 20” vs. 60 x 55-inches for the T6.5 models. If you are taller over 6'.1 and have a long stride the T 7.5S and up may suit you better.
Even though the screen is smaller on the T 6.5 S model, it does provide a thoughtful designed-in lip, to securely hold any smart device or tablet on it. You can easily follow sessions from Apple Fitness+ (or any other app) or stream iFIT destination and studio workouts pairing (connect) to the treadmill via Bluetooth to enable live trainer control (AutoAdjust) for speed and inclines.
It's worth mentioning that you do not need to subscribe to iFIT to use these treadmills, or any app for that matter. You can run, jog, or walk without any monthly subscription. Optionally you can, put the treadmill in Manual Mode and run, walk or jog using your own incline and speed adjustments that suit you.
You can also select from the built-in pre-programmed workouts that ship with the T 6.5 S or T 6.5 Si model.
iFit enhances your Treadmill
One of the interesting aspects of the Nordictrack T 6.5 S and T 7.5 S is that they are iFit enabled and include a 30-day subscription membership to iFit (a $39 savings). That said, both treadmills can be used without being tied to any subscription, including iFit. If you are not into connected fitness and only want a good, entry-level treadmill to run or power walk on or prefer to use other apps like Apple Fitness+ or Peloton Digital, you can — making the Nordictrack T-series treadmills good value-for-money options.
iFit is designed to motivate and challenge users with its interactive on-demand workouts that offer access to a wide range of some of the best trainer-led destination runs, walks, or hikes, plus intense cross-training classes on and off-the-treadmill — such as strength training, yoga classes, boot camp, kickboxing, and many other cross-training choices.
No Subscription Required
However, as we said, if you prefer not to take iFit workouts then you can use these treadmills in manual mode, making your own speed, and elevation adjustments as you move with the quick one-touch buttons on the console for incremental speed and running deck incline changes.
During an iFit workout session you are guided / led by world-class trainers streamed right to the treadmill’s 10-inch HD touchscreen on the T6.5 Si or use a tablet (not included) or any smart device for that matter — if you decide to go with the lower-priced T 6.5 S model at Amazon you have the option to place/sit a smart device on the console’s designed-in lip/shelf as seen below. This means that while you’re moving you can select any entertainment subscribed options such as CNN, Netflix, etc.
iFit Workouts Include
iFit Workout selections include trainer-led destination runs, walks, and hikes through exotic, fascinating locations in Africa, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, Thailand, Antarctica, Iceland, New Zealand, and Hawaii plus many other U.S. and international locations. Because the T 6.5 S and T 75 S Treadmills are powered by iFit, trainers can digitally adjust your treadmill to synchronize incline, decline, and speed in real-time with the workout you're taking — a very popular interactive feature, known as AutoAdjust or Trainer Live Control.
iFit also offers excellent value, allowing up to five people to have individual accounts under one family membership to use with this treadmill or any other iFit-powered exercise equipment to track their stats, favorite trainers, plus many other settings. We like that iFit is constantly adding new workout content every month. Alternatively, you can opt-in for the individual iFit subscription which will run $12 to $15 per month depending on if you select a monthly or the annual payment option.
WHAT WE LOVE
iFit • 10% Incline • Folding • OneTouch Controls
iFit Technology
With your iFIT Pro membership you get access to elite trainer guided workouts in a studio environment, or you can choose destinations to run, walk or hike through across the world. Trainers guide you through cross-training video workouts or keep you company while providing encouragement and making adjustments to speed and incline along the way. iFIT technology allows the trainer to adjust the treadmill’s incline or speed to match the terrain on the screen during a workout to make it fun and a lot more challenging. The first 30 days of iFIT is currently included when you purchase any iFit enabled T-Series Treadmill at Amazon.
These treadmills can be used without iFit if you are not into connected fitness and just want an entry level treadmill to run or power walk on like the T-Series 5. As a note: the T-Series 5 model does not fold.
You can use heart rate, elevation and intensity to really understand your workout results on the T 7.5 S treadmill’s touchscreen. While on the T 6.5 S you can do the same or use your own tablet (or any smart device) paired to the treadmill via Bluetooth if you want to use iFIT workouts. Follow this link to Learn more about — why iFit?
Both T6.5 S and 6.5 Si treadmill models supporting up to a 10% incline to burn more calories in the same amount of time than running on a flat level surface.
An incline changes up your work-out and makes it more challenging and faster to lose weight or build fitness. Just walking at an incline is recommended and highly beneficial if you are a walker or like to hike you will really enjoy the many iFit App challenges such as in the Swiss Alps or Grand Canyon treks for example. The T7.5 S model supports a slightly higher incline of 12%.
Durable Motor
The quiet 2.6 CHP DURX motor is durable and strong enough for multiple runners. T Series treadmills are well built and run quietly when using. The motor can power interval training for those more intense training days. The T7.5 S is a 3.0 CHP version which is generally better for a treadmill whereas the T8.5 S and T9.5 S are even more powerful at 3.5 and 3.6 CHP respectively. Generally, the more powerful motor is better if you have multiple users running for longer periods. See our Nordictrack Treadmill Buyers Guide where we discuss this in more detail.
One-Touch Controls
OneTouch controls make it easy to change difficulty. The console’s one touch controls are a quick easy way to adjust incline and speed — they tend to be more accurate than a knob, but also you have the option to make finer adjustments to get the exact setting you want on either treadmill.
