The thrill of the Why you need an Incline Treadmill
When it gets cold, rainy, and dark in the gloomy winter months ahead, and you get through a workday or even halfway through your day, it can be nearly impossible (at least uncomfortable) to get a good workout outside — even for those of you who are mountain goats. So, an incline treadmill is a recommended addition to your home gym. A treadmill you are EXCITED to use every day, a treadmill you will absolutely LOVE.
Search for BEST Treadmill Ever
Once your search begins and you start looking, you will discover most treadmills options seem alike. You will find connected fitness-enabled treadmills like Sole, Bowflex, Peloton, and Nordictrack. You may also come across Technogym and almost faint at the price. Luxury treadmills like Landice, Life Fitness, Precor, and FreeMotion add another dimension. So, what do you buy to have a different treadmill but still off-the-shelf? One you can buy now, get delivered, set up, and tested. You will discover that Nordictrack’s Commercial incline series of treadmills, although somewhat pricy, offer incredible value with features usually reserved for higher custom treadmill brands.

A Firsthand Experience with the X32i Incline Treadmill
WORKOUT: SWISS ALPS HIKE
For our first workout we chose to hike the Swiss French Alps Incline Series with iFIT instructor John Peel, which at first glance seems to be easy enough – a quick 20-minute hike. First, the Warm-up, which starts off gently enough, increasing in intensity, and suddenly you hear, “hold on until I say Hands off” – what does that mean? flashes through your mind quickly, then WHOA, the treadmill deck starts to rise, and rise, and rise even more, and now you are breathing harder, your heart starts pumping as you hold on to the Sled-push bar and wonder, how long can I do this? – then you hear “hands off” as the running deck begins to smoothly descend leveling-out at a more comfortable elevation. This Approach is called Hi-intensity, Interval Training or better referred to as HIIT Training.
John happily announces, “We are going to repeat four rounds more of this.” Is he crazy? At the top height, you were excited, and the adrenaline was flowing – what a rush as John talks about cows in the pasture, the Swiss economy and Swiss Chocolate. You look around the scene is magnificent. And this is just the first 8 minutes into your workout, with so much more left to explore.
Give iFIT and the Commercial X32i incline treadmill three workouts a week, and you will be able to do anything, not to mention burn a ton of calories. As a note, you can always override AutoAdjust at any point during a workout and make your own adjustments to incline or speed, then quickly hop back into the designed workout program when ready to.
TakeAway Experience X32i Incline Treadmill
As a personal Interactive Experience, the X32i treadmill's running deck inclines and lowers itself without you ever having to think about it or make any type of adjustment at all. It seems like everything related to your workout is done so you can focus on your breathing and completing the session. Changing speed, and elevation height, are well planned out by iFIT-designed workouts aimed to bring you along to hit specific milestones and goals.
You feel like you are right there on the trail or road but with a personal trainer. With its 32-inch HD display and an awesome soundbar (also Bluetooth enabled for most headphones), the Commercial X32i or the X22i model provide an accurate real-world virtual experience without having to wear those ridiculous Oculus-type goggles.
There are SOMETIMES LIVE events to participate in including marathons, 5K races, and half marathons at your speed and intensity.

THE CONS: – things to consider
Incline Treadmills are heavy, weighs over 400 lbs. Choose your location wisely, you don’t want to move it if you don’t have to.
You need some room to place the Commercial X32i Treadmill, but it can fit in a fairly tight space. However, if you plan on to perform on the mat iFIT strength, yoga, stretch or a boxing workout then you will need more room.
It’s more about the ceiling height required for the 40% incline. Recommended is 26-inches plus your height. For example, if you are 5’4” you need a ceiling height of 26 + 64 = 7.5 feet. If you are 6 ft tall you need a minimum height of 8.2 ft. Check the basement height that there is enough ceiling to accommodate the X32i treadmill or X22i treadmill version.
Running on any treadmill is noisy. Both models of the Commercial Incline Series have quiet motors but there is noise as you run on the deck, just an FYI walking is much quieter, but this is the case for most every treadmill.
The price is significant. The monthly payments help. You want to be sure you can commit to using this treadmill.

OUR BIG TAKE
This Commercial incline treadmill series combined with iFIT training content can take you from a non-runner status to being able to complete a 5K, 10K, or even a half marathon. How you might ask – well, it is a natural progression that comes from the years of expertise Nordictrack acquired designing fitness programs and building running workouts. 15-years of research and result metrics have been poured into iFIT and the design of the Commercial Incline treadmill. So, if you show up it just happens – your iFIT trainers and treadmill take you on this journey – we are amazed at the number of people who start, even those over 60, and reach these running goals. Which confirms our conviction to believe it’s possible for just about anyone. From a weight-loss perspective this treadmill series will shred the calories. On average we found we burned 260 to 300 calories a session, working out at an incline is just much more effective.
Other noteworthy aspects we like are the higher supported inclines supported by the Commercial X32i or X22i incline Treadmill – reason enough to own one. You won't max out at a 12% elevation during a run, walk, or hike on the trail. iFIT sessions were specifically designed to support Commercial incline series treadmills to support elevating over 20% and workouts requiring even higher incline levels. On this treadmill series you are challenged AND excited to train across diverse, beautiful locations brilliantly displayed on a large HD touchscreen. It is an experience like no other connected fitness workout on a treadmill. So impactful in-fact, many iFIT members even plan vacations based on their workout experiences. Amazing!
