Incline Treadmill Series Overview
Building upon the success of its earlier popular incline treadmill models, NordicTrack has released new incline treadmill models for 2025 with updates.
First, a larger, quicker, and more responsive touchscreen displays, featuring Full HD touchscreens where the graphics pop out at you. Second, the ability to adjust the display left and right rotation and tilt up or down. Third, the new touchscreen models come in a 24-inch and a 16-inch size. Fourth, all available models have the same sized spacious running decks measuring 22” W x 60” L and support the same incredible inclines of +40% and decline of negative -6%.
Currently all new models in this incline series are equipped with powerful and durable motors, and overall are quicker and quieter, especially when inclining or declining the running deck. Wireless connectivity has been enhanced with automatic dual-band Wi-Fi support and upgraded Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
CONSOLE Design
When running at speed we found the console to be stable without any notable wobbling or shaking when in use.
Compared with other treadmills, the console on the Commercial incline treadmill series is better positioned, can tilt or pivot up or down 40° for the better viewing angles. With the later X24 and X16 treadmill models you can now rotate the display left or right, which if off-the-treadmill workouts are important to you, a useful new feature.
This means now you can stand more comfortably beside or be in front of your treadmill without having to strain your neck or stand on the running deck to obtain the optimal viewing angle when taking classes with a cross-training component that requires an off-the-treadmill movement.
Also useful for on-the-mat wellness workouts, like yoga, meditation, or more energetic iFIT cross-training sessions like boxing and strength training for better viewing. (Similar to the New Nordictrack Rowers)
ENHANCED Motors
The treadmill drive motor is one of the core important aspects when considering the right treadmill for durability, longer runs, and supporting multiple users – please refer to our NordicTrack Treadmill Buying Guide for more detail on motors.
The Commercial X22i treadmill 4.0 CHP primary motor is well sized from our testing and will support heavy use, while the Commercial X32i, X16 and X24 models have even more power sixed at 4.25 CHP. The Primary motor is positioned about 1/3 of the way up from the back of the running deck, with a smaller assist motor towards the front on the X22i models, used for the incline elevation and decline.
These higher-quality motors feature self-cooling and Smart-Response to minimize vibration. They also help support iFIT’s toughest most challenging workouts such as when running through the Swiss Alps, climbing Mont Blanc or hiking in South America’s Patagonia, as well as supporting iFIT connected-fitness features like AutoAdjust and SmartAdjust where your treadmill’s running deck is dynamically adjusting to match the terrain or trainer' cues in the studio sessions.
Powered by iFIT
Powered by iFIT, when on one of the many trainer-led destination workouts your trainer is constantly making changes in real time. They Adjust your treadmills, speed, or running deck elevation to match the terrain’s hills and downward slopes you encounter while running, walking, or hiking or syncs with a studio class instructors' Cues. Of course, you can always choose to override these and make your own speed and incline adjustments. SmartAdjust is a new iFIT feature that can take your changes into account for the remainder of the session, including for future workouts.
Very Quiet
NordicTrack has done an excellent job improving incline functionally over the last few years. We found that the running deck incline and declines were consistently smooth and responsive, maintaining pace with iFIT workouts or any quick adjustment you make while in motion.
We were also surprised/impressed by how much quieter the elevation and downward declines have become.
BETTER Connectivity
Simply connect your favorite wireless headphone of Apple AirPods via Bluetooth 5.0 or use the built-in speakers designed into the display console. As you rotate the touchscreen the sound is always directed toward you. Useful for off the treadmill or on-the-mat workouts.
NO REGRETS. Get the 40% incline
People frequently ask if a treadmill has a 12% or 15% incline, is it good enough? The answer to this question is more dependent on your goals. That said, you would be shocked at the improvement level in your cardio, physical strength, and endurance that consistently walking, running, or hiking at a higher incline will give you over a shorter period of time than the typical treadmill.
25% elevation will become comfortable. At first it burns, the quads will burn, but so will the calories and then more calories. Hitting 30% incline is amazing for intervals and supercharging even a short workout.
NOTE: All Nordictrack Incline Treadmills support the same amazing running deck elevations of 40% incline, down to a -6% negative decline.
iFIT has many terrific running, walking, and hiking workouts through mountain trails and hills, even treks up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa or segments climbing up Mount Everest from Base camp in Nepal, trainer-led destination workouts not to miss out on. When you get an X22i incline treadmill with its wide HD 22–inch touchscreen, you will not regret it. A recommended incline iFIT starting series for beginners and aggressive hikers/power walkers is the Swiss Alps Series led by the ever engaging, iFIT Trainer, John Peel. 24 sessions, 6 mountain summits and peaks, some starting out in Switzerland and ending up in France.
We found on average we burned 260 to 300 calories a session with these beginner iFIT workouts, whether running or hiking. Taking the Swiss Alps hiking series, with John Peel, is a great place to begin.

This exceptional treadmill offers unparalleled incline options to challenge and support your fitness journey.
Pricey, yes, but it is definitely an investment you will not regret purchasing. This incredible piece of exercise equipment will take your fitness to a higher level and crush your goals. Even though the X22i model is on closeout, we still recommend this model, along with the New X16 or X24 models, as an excellent replacement.
The high degree of integration with the iFIT App makes this exercise equipment stand out from other treadmill brands. With iFIT, you are not alone in designing your workouts or even in using your X22i incline treadmill to reach goals, build endurance, or achieve weight loss.
Resistance features like AutoAdjust and SmartAdjust enable you to continuously improve and get the most out of your incline treadmill investment. iFIT trainers take you high and low hiking, walking, and running designed whether you are just getting started or a serious runner training for a marathon. Their expertise and motivation are world-class, and you can touch all seven continents with them if you choose. Best of all, your incline treadmill does a lot of workout session planning for you, including adjustments to speed, incline, and decline so you can focus on the session.
Nordictrack Commercial Incline treadmills are a definite, maybeyesno recommended buy. The screen size between the models is a key difference but more a personal choice for you as the price is usually higher the larger the display. If you feel you need more room on the running deck because your stride is long, then the extra five inches with the X32i model may help. That said, for most individuals the 22-inch by 60” in length is fine and now is the standard size for all new Incline series treadmills by Nordictrack.
